Flood Releif Arrives In Doty WA

People are truly amazing let me tell you ... The last few days have been a whirlwind around here. Alyssa will get a video up ASAP however we need to get the thanks out to EVERYONE for all the support and help.

The conclusion of the Flood Relief Drive that Alyssa created ended more successfully than she ever expected. With help from her church, local Fred Meyers, Albertsons, and neighbors here in Auburn and Federal Way, along with a surprise last minute call Friday from the Christmas House part of the Federal Way Food Bank we had to scramble for more help and room since the 2 mini vans were too small to carry the load down South to a town called Doty we set things up with. We got so overwhelmed that our inventory list got scratched and all we could do was box things up to get them ready. The totals will come in a later post but this amazing 9year old, our daughter Alyssa, really did put a ton of time and heart into this and in turn is happy to know kids still will have a Christmas even after losing everything in their homes.

In a matter of days and a couple of Saturdays hitting the neighborhood Alyssa stuffed one Minivan and 3 SUV's full of toys, clothes and food, over $500 for UMCOR in checks, $483.47 in cash, (which she used to purchase specific needed items.) Thanks to Auburn's Fred Meyers and Albertons support, and thanks to the awesome people who jumped in at the very last minute to help deliver the items.

Our hats go off to those who do this sort of thing on a daily basis, we met some truly wonderful people doing so much to help in this time of need for the people of this area. We were glad to be a small part of the relief efforts!
